Favorite Things: The DCist
To stay informed of the local goings ons, and for the occasional laugh, I turn to the DCist – a blog featuring news, food & drink and arts & entertainment info in the D.C. area.

DCist
I particularly look forward to the weekly installments of “Overheard in D.C.,” a compilation of user-submitted quotes from the week. From funny things heard on the metro, to ridiculous stories eavesdropped on at bars, the little anecdotes are sure to amuse.
Luckily, D.C. isn’t the only city with an ist to love. DCist is part of the most popular network city blogs owned and operated by Gothamist LLC.

Favorite Things: Jango
When I was in college, I was introduced to the wonderful world of Pandora. Whether I was writing a paper or studying, Pandora was there playing my favorite tunes. But, when I moved to Bosnia my musical inspiration was gone.
Until I found Jango.

Jango offers, more or less, the same services as Pandora, except that it works outside the US. Jango allows you to search for artists or through other users’ stations for music you may like, add genre stations and make friends.
Thanks to Jango, my inspiration is back.

Favorite Things: ING Orange
Desperate times call for desperate measures, or in your financial case, too-easy-and-effective-that-you’d-be-silly-not-to-do-it measures. I’ve got one word for you: orange.
I was first turned on to this little nugget of monetary sanity by an article posted on Ramit Sethi’s Blog, I Will Teach You To Be Rich. When I looked further into the ING Orange savings program I truly found no down side–and that’s a rarity for any service in general, much less a service offered in this recession.
So if you haven’t already check it out. It has great interest rates, no fees and is super easy to manage online. And what better way to start out 2009 than by making the effort to store away a little cash for a down payment on a house or that sweet new mint green Vespa you’ve been eyeing?
