Rewarding yourself should be the first thing because when you were in college nobody rewarded you only your parents and you had to struggle to pass all those exams and projects.

Even if your parents didn't reward, you should reward yourself to motivate yourself to continue to survive the workforce.

I want a driven woman so I can be a house husband and sit on the couch in sweatpants and become the best fantasy baseball player I can possible be. ;-)

Really enjoyed this post Carla, and having dated a REALLY driven Gen Y female I definitely have some insight into the situation. In short, Yes, I think most Gen Y men are intimidated by women that are A.) really driven B.) make more money than them.

There are so many factors though that shape these types of relationships that I'm hesitant to put anyone in a box. I'd be happy to have this conversation via gchat, but I'm going to refrain from writing a 1500 word exposition in your comments section.

Basically, I just watched your #AwesomeBloggers interview with Jun that was in fact, Awesome and had to let you know I wasn't intimidated of commenting on this post.

Drinking in America is quite different than drinking in Europe. For hundreds of years European nations did not have clean water, everything was dumped into the Thames, the Seine, the Rhine, etc. Drinking water until only very recently was virtually unheard of in European nations. I can still remember being a kid in Germany and having to drink warm Coke, because the Germans didn't make ice. They had refrigeration, but didn't use ice. So rather than being nations of tea or lemonade drinkers, they drank ale, beer, and wines.

When I was a kid in Germany and went to Italy, the children there were allowed to have a full glass of wine with their meals by the age of 10-12. Those children were weaned on homemade grappa/vino/wine. They would be initiated to the taste by the age of about 5 and were given a glass with just a little bit of wine and the rest was well water. As they grew older, they got more wine and less water until they were able to drink a full glass at the table. The kids in Germany had Kinder Bier, which looks, smells and tastes like beer, only it has no alcohol.

These examples cannot be implemented here in the United States because we still fall under the puritanical upbringings of our religious forefathers who forbade alcohol (with the exceptions of the Catholics.lol)

If children today were weaned into the alcohol, I do not believe there would be the rampant binge drinking and road deaths from inexperienced drinkers. American youths drink because it is "verboten!" and if it were not, and they were taught how to drink responsibly, I think we'd have a lot less substance use and abuse problems. Just an opinion from an old gal.

I LOVE the Flight of the Conchords. I can't wait for Season 2 of the show to begin. I actually saw Jemaine in Downtown Los Angeles back in the summer during our monthly Art Walk. I wanted to say hi, but thought that would be kind of lame, so I kept on walking. He was standing on a street corner holding a skateboard with a look on his face like someone had kept him waiting for a while.

Anyway, random story. But love these guys. Can't wait for the new season and I'd love to catch them live!
